West Palm Beach Spotlight: Table 26 Restaurant

If you have not been before, I highly recommend a meal at Table 26 in downtown West Palm Beach. It is located in the heart of the historical Mango Promenade district and two blocks south of the Norton Museum of Art. It gives off the feeling of a neighborhood restaurant with a global, comfort-food cuisine. The ambience is swanky, but with a casual nautical overtone that everybody can enjoy.

In addition to being a fan-favorite in West Palm, this modern-American bistro has many loyal Palm Beach patrons who don’t seem to be dissuaded by making an over-the-bridge trek to enjoy this restaurant’s delicious global fare. I had the pleasure of stopping in and talking with Joshua Bartlett, the Dining Room Manager, of this highly praised and rather unique restaurant to see why it has become a local favorite.

Josh explained that “Eddie (Schmidt) and Ozzie (Madeiros) always have had a passion for the industry. Eddie was a Maître d’ at Palm Beach Grill for 15 years. Ozzie owned a few different restaurants up North. They love to interact with people and provide great service. Our mission is to go above and beyond expectations. We do things differently and are always thinking of new creative ideas.”

When asked what sets them apart from other restaurants downtown Josh replied. “We don’t settle. We take a lot of pride and have a strong sense of ownership in our work. We are always thinking of new ways to make the customers’ experience even better.”

His favorite dish which is a staple of the restaurant is the crusted salmon and he loves his location in West Palm Beach because in his words, “I like the social scene, you get to see a lot familiar faces and it has that neighborhood and communal feel about it, despite how big the city actually is.”

When asked what his favorite part about working at Table 26 was Josh responded, “I get to challenge myself and create new menu items and ideas. Watching them come to fruition and seeing the satisfaction on a customer’s face is my favorite part about the job.”

There is always something happening at Table 26 such as their Toys For Tots drive which was a huge success. They are currently running a promotion where if you check in on Facebook at Table 26; you’ll get a complimentary martini. They also have an all night New Year’s Party planned and a hangover pajama party that goes until New Year’s Day.
