West Palm Beach
West Palm Beach is a city located in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The city is situated approximately 68 miles (109 kilometers) north of Miami.
The area that is now West Palm Beach was originally inhabited by the Tequesta, a Native American tribe that lived in the region for thousands of years before the arrival of European settlers. In the early 16th century, the Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de León became the first European to visit the area, landing on the shores of what is now West Palm Beach.
The city of West Palm Beach was founded in 1894 by Henry Flagler, a wealthy industrialist and co-founder of Standard Oil. Flagler developed the area as a resort destination, building the Royal Poinciana Hotel and the Palm Beach Inn, which later became The Breakers hotel.
West Palm Beach is a city that has experienced significant growth and development over the years. During the 20th century, West Palm Beach grew rapidly, becoming a popular destination for tourists and retirees. Today, the city is known for its beautiful beaches, parks, and cultural attractions, such as the Norton Museum of Art and the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.
