PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. —
Some local businesses are doing their part to help seniors or those with preexisting conditions in the community who might be fearful to enter stores to pick up items they need.
The founder of Echo Fine properties, Jeff Lichtenstein, said he saw the need in his own home and wanted to reach out to more people in the community to let them know there are people willing to help.
“My mother went through an esophageal cancer, and I was talking to her the other night and she was nervous to go out and she is going out when there is not a lot of crowds, which is really good. And then I got the idea,” Lichtenstein said.
This is when Lichtenstein posted on social media, letting seniors or those in need know that his team is available to pick up items from the store.
“We are doing free pickup for them no cost; this is something we can do, give us a list,” Lichtenstein said.
Within hours, Lichtenstein began to receive emails, from those in need, some thanking him for his actions, and others also wanting to help.
“Since we sent that email out, I have had about 10 or 12 people from there and social media and everybody is stepping up,” Lichtenstein said.
Chris Burke who also works at Echo Fine Properties said this situation hits close to home and he was happy to help those who need it.
“I got a 93-year-old mother and she cried when she read this. We are trying. Anything we can do in these really dire times,” Burke said.
Echo Fine Properties isn’t the only business helping those get items they need.
Mosquito Joe partner, Torben Nielsen, also reached out to their customers willing to pick up supplies for them.
“But I think there is something more in a crisis situation like this where you want to go beyond just being a company. You want to be human,” Nielsen said.
Anyone in need of items from the store but not feeling comfortable leaving their house can email Jeff Lichtenstein at jeff@echofineproperties.com or call or text at 561-346-8383.
